Mischa Barton intervju

Interview by Rosanna Greenstreet
Saturday June 9, 2007

When were you happiest?
When I got my dogs, Charlie and Ziggy Stardust. One is a pomeranian mix and the other is a rescue mutt, and, oh my God, he's so cute.

What is your greatest fear?
Being trapped in a burning car.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
I'd like to be more patient with little things. And I wish that I could be motivated to work out more often.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Ignorance. I don't like it when people don't want to learn or grow or expand as a person.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
My friend's band was playing and me and Rachel Bilson (from The OC) rushed up on stage and tripped over the amp chord. The sound was cut, and there was this screeching noise.

What is your most treasured possession?
It used to be my Care Bear. But my dogs have hidden her, so I don't know where she is, which is really tragic.

What makes you depressed?
To see people close to me sad.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
I usually feel like I'm a bit of a mess. My hair's always tangled, and if I do my make-up it's always, like, off.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Ben & Jerry's Everything But The... ice cream.

Who would play you in the film of your life?
I just played a young Shirley MacLaine, and if she was young I'd want her to play me.

What is your favourite book?
The Grapes Of Wrath.

What is your fancy dress costume of choice?
I love dress parties - I have themed barbecues. Last time it was a sailor theme, but my favourite would be a masquerade ball.

What is the worst thing anyone's said to you?
In school, one of my teachers said acting wasn't a real profession and that I'd never make it. I ended up having to go to a private school just so I could act.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?
My family. When you're one of three sisters, you get a bond that's really strong. I feel the same way about my dogs on a slightly lesser level, and I've had incredible friends along the way.

What does love feel like?
A complete distraction.

Have you ever said 'I love you' and not meant it?
All the time. I tell everyone I love them and it's not in a fake way. I always say, 'Good bye and I love you.'

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?
I like to say the word 'dope' a lot, which is very 90s.

What is the worst job you've done?
I made a few mistakes in films when I was younger. I was also on All My Children for a couple of episodes.

If you could go back in time, where would you go?
I'd go to 1967 or 68 in California when the British music scene was coming to LA and the folk scene was really good.

How do you relax?
Hanging out at home with friends, listening to music, renting movies and having all our dogs over.

How often do you have sex?
Only when I have a boyfriend, which is not often recently.

What is the closest you've come to death?
When I was filming recently, I nearly fell off the back of a horse carriage down a steep cliff. I jumped and saved my own life.

What single thing would improve the quality of your life?
I love to travel - you have a better quality of life when you have a more rounded point of view about the world and you get to go places a lot - so I'd like my own plane!

What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
That it's a short life and there's no room for people who aren't worth it. Nothing ever goes the way you want and you have no control over your world except for the people you keep around you and the vibes you put out.
